The Paiste 32" Mercury Planet Gong is tuned to a fundamental of C#2 (70.64 Hz), with the Mercury tone of 141.27 Hz one octave above. The tuning follows Hans Cousto's calculations in The Cosmic Octave, which translate the orbit of the planet Mercury into an audible frequency.
The 32-inch size gives a rich, full bass with long sustain, while remaining responsive and quick to speak. The Mercury gong opens up into shimmering, evolving overtones that move and change as the sound develops, giving it a clear, lively and focused character.
