Surbahars
The surbahar is the bass sitar of Hindustani classical music. With its larger gourd, wider neck and heavier strings, it is tuned lower than the sitar and produces a deep, sonorous tone that is perfect for slow, meditative alaap, jod and jhala in the dhrupad style.
