Ghatam

Ghatam – South Indian Clay Pot Drum

The ghatam is the famous clay pot percussion instrument of South India and a key accompanying instrument in Carnatic concerts. Played with the fingers, palms and even the wrists, it produces a remarkable range of crisp, ringing and deep bass sounds.

We source our ghatams from respected makers in South India. Each pot is hand-made, and different sizes produce different pitches.
